How can UEFA engage fans in emerging markets during the Champions League tournament in memorable and brand-led ways?

WLLX created and implemented fan events that perfectly complemented UEFA’s brand image and offered fans the unique experience of ‘joining the champions’ in an interactive quiz with a footballing legend in Mumbai and in a semi-finals live screening event on the iconic Sugarloaf Mountain.

Made for Mumbai

To bring local Mumbai fans closer to the action, WLLX devised and executed an interactive quiz with midfielder Luis Figo. The winner joined Figo on stage, creating memorable and shareable branded moments. WLLX also hosted a memorabilia room, where the fans got up close to some of UEFA’s most prized artefacts.

Aiming high in Rio

In Rio, WLLX delivered a live screening of the 2019 Champions League semi-final on the top of Sugarloaf Mountain. Careful planning and meticulous attention to detail ensured guests enjoyed one of Rio’s most iconic tourist destinations in style, comfort and safety.

Brand activations (and a logistical feat)

Both events integrated UEFA’s brand partners, and WLLX’s expertise was called on to deliver partner activations hosted by Facebook, Heineken, Mastercard, Nissan, PepsiCo, PlayStation and Sony. The highlight? Safely delivering a Nissan Kicks car to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain!


The events helped UEFA reinforce its brand and up its profile in target markets by hosting full branded and differentiated events in iconic locations. There was a clear win for fans, too: around 2,000 Indian fans had the chance to get closer to legendary midfielder Luis Figo and pose for a picture with the legendary UEFA Champions League trophy.
