WLLX joined forces with energy drink brand BURN to create and deliver the annual BURN Residency, a three-part competition and campaign to mentor, develop and celebrate the best new DJ talent.

Managing the world’s biggest global DJ competition with 26 DJs, multiple locations and five months of performances is no mean feat. But WLLX mixed it to perfection.
The BURN Residency is a test of not only DJ prowess, but also logistical mastery and event production excellence. Every year, BURN gives 26 aspiring DJs the chance to win the opportunity of a lifetime: a career jump-start that puts them on stage at the hottest clubs during a European tour and a six-week residency, with the prize of a €100,000 management contract.
An embedded event team
WLLX formed an extension of BURN’s in-house event team to take on the complete creative development, planning, competitor briefings and project management of the BURN Residency, including campaign assets for 26 EMEA markets and the design and delivery of three competition events.
From May through to September, 26 DJs battled it out through challenges, mix-offs and play-outs at some of Ibiza’s most legendary clubs, in events organised by the embedded WLLX team.
Taking the brand further
WLLX also produced a brand experience manifesto and toolkit to help each of BURN’s markets execute their event, ensuring a consistently brilliant experience in every location.
Since its foundation, the BURN Residency has grown every year, earning credibility across the industry. Its highly respected by top talent like Carl Cox, Pete Tong and Fatboy Slim and successfully brings BURN closer to the dance music community, a key audience segment for the brand.
